Rockstar brings an update today on the multiplayer mode of Red Dead Redemption 2. In the new Showdown mode Up in Smoke for Red Dead Online, you must blow up enemy camps.
What does the new update bring? Red Dead Online will receive another small update today, on April 2nd. This brings the new Showdown mode “Up in Smoke”, an XP bonus on all equipped ability cards and new items.
The items are exclusively clothing. The new additions this week that you can find in the catalog of Wheeler, Rawson & Co. are:
- Winter Shotgun Coat
- Benbow Jacket
- Stuffed Socks
- Manteca Hat
Why so much is happening: At the beginning of 2019, Rockstar announced that in the coming months they would significantly improve the gaming experience of Red Dead Online with many new contents. After the beta launch, players complained about too little content. It also became quite quiet around the multiplayer spin-off of Red Dead Redemption 2, which worried fans.
But that is now different. The developer has remained true to the promise of expanding the online game with regular updates.
What has recently come: New missions, items, events and modes, including the in-house battle royale version Gun Rush, the Target Race and the hide-and-seek game Spoils of War.
Game systems have also been tackled and measures against griefers have been introduced, daily challenges now provide more variety, the new notoriety system goes against overly aggressive players, and they addressed the weapon balancing.
What is yet to come: In the content offensive announced for spring, players can expect a new feature with dynamic events. Players should be able to repel attacks, initiate rescues, or defend people in need in the game world. Furthermore, more freedom will be given to players, more incentives for daily logins will be created, and adjustments to the character editor will be made.
This is the new mode
The update brings a new Showdown mode. In the new PvP mode “Up in Smoke”, all players start with an explosive charge. Each time a player manages to attach their explosives to the enemy camp, a piece of the hideout is destroyed.

Ability cards like “Tomorrow is also a day”, “Strange Medicine” and “Slick Bastard” could turn out to be useful in the new Showdown mode “Up in Smoke”. This week, you have the opportunity to level up your skills.
Level up with XP bonus: This week you will receive a 30% XP bonus on your equipped abilities. Ability cards have active benefits, such as when Dead Eye is activated, while passive ability cards improve various attributes in the categories of combat, recovery, and defense.
