Realm Royale is a new battle royale title currently in early alpha for PC on Steam. But what about PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, or Android?
Realm Royale will be released for console. HiRez Studios has not commented on a timeframe yet. Realm Royale is currently in early access on PC and is still in an early development phase.
HiRez has already brought other games to console and mobile that have established themselves on PC.
Release on Consoles: PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch
When can we expect a release on consoles? That may still take a while. Realm Royale is still in its infancy and the developers are experimenting with some concepts. The foundation of the game is set, but the framework is still being adjusted. For comparison: Paladins was first playable on PC in late 2016. The release on PS4 and Xbox One followed in May 2017.
Since then, the studio has grown further, has more employees, is working with the Chinese giant Tencent, and has gained more experience. All of this could lead to the release of Realm Royale from PC to other platforms happening a bit faster than in the case of Paladins.
It would also be in HiRez’s interest to bring a port to consoles as quickly as possible while the battle royale competition is still sparse.
Release for Mobile? Android and iOS
How likely is a release here? A mobile release is conceivable. HiRez has experience with iOS and Android. With Paladins Strike the studio brought the hero shooter Paladins to mobile. This was done in collaboration with Tencent. This is an adapted version of Paladins, tailored for smartphones and tablets, and played from a top-down perspective.
When can we expect a release on mobile? Just like in the case of consoles, this may still take a while. Realm Royale first needs to complete the transition out of early alpha and be solid core-wise.
