This is how you extend your Dead Eye
Dead Eye is a useful skill in Red Dead Redemption 2 that allows you to slow down time in combat. You can read here how Dead Eye works.
To bring your Dead Eye to level 8 and gain more time to target enemies, you need to accumulate a total of 1100 experience points just like for health and stamina. Only special challenges for each resource will bring you to level 10.
You earn XP through tasks or challenges directly related to Dead Eye. However, you can only expand the Dead Eye display, that is the ring around this special core, and not the core itself.
Activities
Skinning animals: Skinning animals is the simplest method to quickly accumulate experience points for Dead Eye. This task does not affect your honor and does not require many materials, except perhaps some arrows or bullets. Depending on the size of the animal to be skinned, you can earn between 1 and 10 XP with this activity.
But be careful: Some players find skinning animals a bit too brutal.
Crafting tonics and food: Crafting items is an essential part of cowboy life in Red Dead Redemption 2. If you craft food and tonics yourself, you even receive 1 XP for your Dead Eye level each time.
Completing camp tasks: If you help with daily tasks in the camp, you will not only earn karma but also 5 experience points for Dead Eye each. You can carry two bags to Pearson’s provision wagon, bring two hay bales to the horses, fetch a bucket of water, and split five firewood logs.
Combat
Kills with free aiming: In Red Dead Redemption 2, you have an aim assist when you are on foot and on horseback. However, if you turn off aim locking, you get an additional experience point for Dead Eye for each kill.

Headshots: A good cowboy should particularly focus on headshots in RDR 2. Headshots from over 50 meters away will earn you experience points for your Dead Eye. Depending on the distance between you and your target, you can earn between 1 to 5 XP.
Challenges
Some challenges in Red Dead Redemption 2 give you direct bonuses to one of the three resources, which you can only improve up to level 8 with regular activities. If you want to reach level 10, only the challenges will help. For Dead Eye, the challenges are Bandit, Gambler, and Sharpshooter.
For the first challenge level, you will receive 25 XP each. If you complete all three challenges completely, you will earn a whopping 1425 experience points.
Valerian Root
In Red Dead Redemption 2, there are many tonics and elixirs that can be crafted or found in the game world. Valerian root is good for your Dead Eye and grants you 25% experience points until your next level.
However, valerian root is one of the rarer tonics and elixirs and can only be found in the game world.
Searching for cigarette cards: Keep an eye out for cigarette cards, as these can also earn you a valerian root. The task becomes available in Chapter 2 after the quest “Who is without sin.”
A stranger at Flatneck Station wants you to send him complete sets of cigarette cards by mail. There are a total of twelve sets with twelve cards each, so 144 cigarette cards. The cards can be found in certain locations or in boxes of premium cigarettes.
Collect the “World Champion” set and send it by mail to receive a valerian root and 50 dollars.
