Razer has released a new mouse pad. In their shop, they warn that you should not start fires or hit other people with it.
What does Razer warn against? Razer has launched a new mouse pad called Razer Atlas. The special feature of the mouse pad is its composition, as it is made of 5 mm thick glass.
On the shop page of the mouse pad, the manufacturer added three curious warnings:
- The first warning shows a person holding the mouse pad horizontally in the sun. The sun rays hit the glass surface of the pad and ignite a fire underneath – similar to using a magnifying glass.
- In the second warning, the person holds the mouse pad vertically in front of their face and looks towards the sun. It shows that the mouse pad does not provide sun protection, as it is made of glass. Such use could injure your eyes and skin. In light of the first warning, it even warns of possible burns.
- The third warning is arguably the clearest. Do not hit other people with it, especially not on the head. After all, the mouse pad is made of millimeter-thick glass.
Of course, it is possible that the warnings are not meant entirely seriously. The company might also want to protect itself from actually unimaginable lawsuits in the USA.
What kind of mouse pad is this? The Razer Atlas is Razer’s first glass mouse pad. It is 5 mm thick, 450 mm long, and 400 mm wide – so it has an average size. The price is a hefty 120 euros.
Since it is made of glass, it has less resistance than fabric or even plastic mouse pads. Glass mouse pads generally allow for very fast gameplay and enable very quick flicks.
There are shooter players who swear by glass mouse pads due to the low resistance. This includes Marko Jevtic, who is enthusiastic about a Razer competitor, the Skypad:
