The gaming brand Razer is actually known for hardware such as keyboards and mice. Now the giant is also making toasters. And all of this is because fans were crazy enough to even get tattoos for it.
Why a Razer toaster? In September 2013, the Facebook page “Give us the Razer Toaster” was founded by Mark Withers.
He commented on a status of Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan with his idea of creating a toaster that burns WASD keys or the Razer logo onto the toast. The CEO responded that if his page received a million likes, he would build the toaster.
Razer itself apparently found the idea so good that the toaster became an April Fool’s joke in 2016 under the name “Breadwinner”. (Video embedded below)
The Facebook page still only received just over 45,000 likes in nearly six years.
This is how ambitiously the fans are committed: To make the dream of the toaster come true, some fans finally got tattoos of the toaster along with the Razer logo. This apparently astonished Min-Liang Tan so much that he equated each tattoo with 100,000 likes.
In the meantime, twelve people have gotten such a tattoo. The page has thus practically received 1.2 million likes and met the requirements.
The Razer CEO kept his word and announced that the toaster would now be made. He shared the victory video of the page on Facebook and commented:
Okay. I didn’t think that people would manage to do that. But they did. They should get a million likes, and every Razer tattoo is worth 100,000. Now they have 12. I just liked their page and will now assemble a team of engineers.
When is the toaster coming and what makes it special? There is still no information on the release date of the toaster. It is also not known how exactly it is supposed to toast bread. However, it is likely that the Razer logo will simply be burned onto the toast.
Min-Liang Tan said that the development will take “a few years”, but he wants to keep the fans updated on the development. A toaster will definitely join the Razer headsets and keyboards.
