Actually, PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) on the Xbox One X achieves 60FPS, but players will not experience this initially.
Buying a more powerful console and still being able to play PUBG only at 30FPS is a disappointing news for console fans who are looking forward to the battle royale shooter. Although developers have already proven that more frames can be achieved, players will start with the handbrake pulled.
Why 60 frames when you can have only 30?
In an interview with wccftech, Brendan Greene recently explained that the PUBG developers want to bring the game to the Xbox consoles at 60FPS. A game version with which the developers are testing the game has likely already overcome this hurdle.
However, it seems that gamers will still have to wait for these frame rates. On Twitter, PlayerUnknown personally stated that PUBG will only run at 30FPS on all Xbox consoles at launch. This includes the new Xbox One X consoles.
They are working on achieving higher frame rates, but this cannot be confirmed at the moment. It sounds like they have not yet given up on the big goal of 60FPS.
Gameplay advantage through higher FPS?
A possible reason for the FPS cap is players on the regular Xbox One systems. In the mentioned interview with wccftech, Brendan Greene explained that PUBG only reached 30-40FPS when testing on the Xbox One.
If the game runs at 60 FPS on the Xbox One X now, these players might have an advantage because they are playing at a higher frame rate. Therefore, the reason for the 30FPS limit on all Xbox One consoles could be to ensure that all players have the same conditions.
PUBG will be released on December 12 for Xbox and many console fans are already looking forward to finally diving into the battle royale shooter. Do you have enough storage space on your Xbox for PUBG?
