In the video you see the new “Mini 14” weapon from PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds). The developers also explain that AFK farming will soon come to an end.
When new weapons are introduced in a game, they need to be properly tested by the community first. How good is the weapon? Is it a good alternative in the meta or only valuable in specific situations?
The Mini-14 is the new DMR option in the battle royale shooter “PUBG”. In the video, you will see what the weapon can do. Additionally, the developers are taking action against AFK players – they will soon no longer receive points for doing nothing.
On the test servers, you can already see the new weapon and anti-AFK rule in action. Players on the live servers still have to wait for the update, which is expected to be released in the coming days.
The update with the new weapon is now available on the live servers. You can find the patch notes for the September update here
Mini 14 Test – The weapon in action in PUBG
As part of the new September update in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, you are gifted a new weapon. The weapon is not restricted to an airdrop, but can be found across the entire map.
On paper, the Mini-14 already makes a good impression. Although it does not have as high damage values as other DMRs (Designated Marksman Rifles), the developers claim that it compensates for this with fast muzzle fire and barely noticeable bullet drop.
On the test servers, the PUBG community was able to try out the weapon before release and has been pleasantly surprised so far. Reddit user NeedChickenDinner writes:
“I tried the Mini-14 today. The first kill was an instant kill – 50 meters with 2x zoom. The second kill took a few shots at 200 meters with 4x zoom. I like the weapon so far. 20 bullets without magazine expansion is good. It feels good overall and the reduced bullet drop is noticeable.”
In the video by ThesaurusPG, you can see the Mini-14 in action with all upgrades during fog:
AFK Farming in PUBG? Not with Bluehole!
In recent weeks, some PUBG players have complained about the frequency of AFK players. These players exploited a vulnerability in the system and earned in-game currency by participating in games AFK.
With the earned battle points, these players bought cosmetic items and sold them for “real money” on the Steam market. We explain the AFK problem in PUBG in more detail here
With the September update in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, this “farming” is meant to be stopped. The developers at Bluehole report that they have taken away the idle players’ ability to earn battle points.
“We have implemented rules that prevent AFK players from earning battle points,” it says in the patch notes for the September update in PUBG. The developers want to continue monitoring and improving the regulations in the future.
It is hard to say whether the new rules will completely solve the problem. However, the developers are already taking a step in the right direction.
The update also brings a new city full of loot. Additionally, foggy weather will soon be a feature of the live servers.
