The battle royale madness can also be found in older games. In GTA: San Andreas, the PUBG mod regularly pulls many players into the survival matches. And that’s despite the game being several years old.
For the gaming community, the battle royale shooter “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” is a phenomenon. In March 2017, the game launched on Steam in early access and has since convinced more than 20 million players to make a purchase. PUBG broke several records on the Steam platform.
Other games want to get a piece of this hype cake and are developing their own battle royale modes. This is happening not only in current games like GTA 5 or Fortnite, but also in much older video games.
Fans create PUBG mod for GTA: San Andreas – and it works well
For a 13-year-old game, GTA: San Andreas has a surprisingly active community. The multiplayer, which thrives on mods and community work, has built a solid fanbase over the years. The PUBG mod is now expanding the community even further.
Fans created modifications in PUBG style that kick off the battle royale chaos in the open world of San Andreas.
GTA: San Andreas serves as an excellent base for a PUBG mod since the game already includes the key props: parachutes, various vehicle types, pistols, assault rifles, sniper rifles, helmets, and a huge map.
The PUBG game modes work so well that two mods are popular among GTA fans. One uses the multiplayer tool “SAMP,” which stands for San Andreas Multiplayer. The other uses “MTA,” which is short for Multi Theft Auto. We want to explore the MTA mod in more detail here.
You can see a lot of similarities to PUBG in the MTA mod: the parachute drop, a functioning inventory, weapon and equipment drops, different categories of armor (Level 1 and Level 2 helmets), and a large map where you encounter other players. The modifications take advantage of features from GTA San Andreas. The many different NPCs provide customization options for character adjustments. In addition, there are many clothing stores in San Andreas with a large selection. The clothing can also be found as world drops in the PUBG mod.
In the upcoming months, the modifications, just like the original, will continue to improve. The GTA mod developers want to enhance weapon damage and refresh animations, among other things.
