After many test rounds, the new small Sanhok map for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is now ready for release. Just in time for the weekend, it’s going live.
The map launches on Friday. The PUBG developers announced on the Steam blog that the Sanhok map will be released for PC on June 22, this Friday. They also introduced the map with many interesting details, including an exclusive weapon.
What can you expect on the Sanhok map in PUBG?
This is what makes Sanhok special: The new map is much smaller than Erangel or Miramar. Instead of 8×8 kilometers, Sanhok is limited to a play area of 4×4 kilometers. Still, a match usually consists of 100 players; the player count has not been reduced.
New weapon in PUBG: The map also includes the exclusive QBZ95 weapon. This is an AR (assault rifle) that uses 5.56mm ammunition. The magazine holds 30 rounds, upgraded to 40 rounds. The QBZ95 spawns instead of the SCAR-L on Sanhok – the SCAR-L isn’t available there.
Overview map of Sanhok: The developers provided an overview. This way, players can take a closer look at the map before jumping into matches starting June 22.
Weather: There is dynamic weather on Sanhok.
Red Zone: The red zone is smaller on Sanhok and is active for a shorter duration than normal. The center of the red zone appears outside the play area (outside the white circle).
Blue Zone: The wait times for the blue zone are shorter on Sanhok. However, it shrinks at a slower rate. The zone is dynamic. Depending on the number of remaining players, the wait time and speed are determined. However, the size of the blue zone is not dependent on this.
More weapons, fewer scopes: ARs, SMGs, and DMRs spawn more frequently on Sanhok. However, 8x and 15x scopes do not appear on the map. If they do, it’s only in airdrops.
The complete patch notes for the PUBG update can be found in the Steam forums.
Next up is the snow: PUBG is bringing a winter map that is smaller than Erangel.
