PUBG Corp, the developers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have arrested 15 Chinese cheat providers. They face millions in US dollars in damages.
What’s going on: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is massively plagued by cheaters. A large part of the cheaters allegedly comes from China. There, cheating does not seem to be greatly condemned by many players. Therefore, even well-known companies like Dell advertise their hardware with the fact that a particularly large number of cheat plugins can run simultaneously.
However, the developers at Bluehole seem to be getting fed up with the cheaters and the providers of cheating software. In the past, there have already been arrests of cheaters, and now it continues.
15 alleged cheaters arrested
This is what happened: In cooperation with Bluehole, Chinese authorities arrested 15 alleged cheat developers on April 25, 2018. They now face a compensation payment of approximately 5.1 million US dollars (about 4.2 million euros). This impressive amount shows how much money the cheat developers probably earn with their cheating software.
The cheaters were duped themselves! Ironically, the customers of the cheat developers were duped themselves. The cheat software of the suspects was said to have contained a nasty trojan. User data of the cheaters was apparently read out and passed on. Likewise, a lucrative business.
No mercy for cheaters and cheat providers!
What’s next? In a statement, developer Bluehole reaffirmed that they will continue to pursue cheating and the development of such plugins with the utmost severity:
„We take cheating extremely seriously! The development, sale, promotion, and use of unauthorized hacking or cheating programs is not only unfair to many PUBG players. It is also against the law in many countries!”
Therefore, there will likely also be harsh measures against cheaters in the future.
