Login is currently not possible on PS4 this evening, December 12th. It shows that maintenance is taking place. The server status is currently offline.
Anyone looking to start a cozy PS4 session during the holiday celebrations is facing issues: The PSN servers are not running properly. Players are complaining on the worldwide internet that the login is not working. We just checked it ourselves and yes, we cannot log in to PSN. After a short time, the message appears: “The PSN is currently under maintenance.”
However, no maintenance work has been announced by Sony. The official PSN status currently (yet) indicates that all services are operational.
Update 17:43: The status has now been updated: The gaming and social networks area is experiencing a disruption. The developers are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. They thank you for your patience.
When the servers will be running properly again is still unknown.
Update 17:55: Sony has spoken out via Twitter. There are login problems for some players. We can now log in normally again.
