Connecting and using mouse and keyboard is easy with PS5 and PS4. But does it actually work properly? Is it supported by all games? MeinMMO has the answers.
Even if consoles are primarily known for their controller support, mouse and keyboard can be connected without problems and can even be used in some games.
However, the little word “some” does limit it: Because the support for the input devices depends on the game you want to start.
So do not generally assume that a game supports control through mouse and keyboard. Not even if the game is available on PC.
We will show you with some examples that mouse and keyboard support is not that rare and many games can be played just like on PC.
PS5 / PS4 – Which games support mouse and keyboard?
To provide you with an overview of which major games work with mouse and keyboard on PlayStation, we will refer to a large MeinMMO list: The 15 currently best MMOs and MMORPGs 2022.
We list the games that are also available on PS5/PS4 and show whether they fully support mouse and keyboard:

Unfortunately, there are no general indicators as to whether a game supports mouse and keyboard on PlayStation.
If you base your purchasing decision on the support of mouse and keyboard, you should definitely look for information on the internet.
For example, search for the game on Google and enter “mouse keyboard console”. In many cases, you will find relevant information.
However, what always works: You can use a keyboard for writing and chatting. If a window with a digital keyboard opens, the PlayStation recognizes your keystrokes.
This makes text chat in MMORPGs like Elder Scrolls Online much more convenient – if you have space for the keyboard on the couch.
Community tests mouse and keyboard on PS4 and PS5 – These games work
On a fan site for PlayStation, there are more titles that supposedly provide full support for mouse & keyboard. Fans have tested the games and created a respectable list (via playstation.fandom.com):

Another solution – Hardware: If you really want to approach a console game with mouse and keyboard, there are also adapters that “simulate” a controller.
Corresponding devices are available from €20, but they can also become quite expensive if you want direct input without noticeable delay.
However, it is not recommended to use such devices in a PvP game if the game does not actually support mouse and keyboard. This can quickly be seen as cheating and lead to a ban.
