Sony has introduced its new PS5 Pro. Many are now asking: Can I continue to use my old accessories, or do I have to buy everything new?
What is included with the PS5 Pro? A DualSense Wireless Controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom are pre-installed with every purchase of the PS5 Pro. The PS5 Pro is available as a console without discs, while the disc drive for the PS5 can be purchased separately.
Can I use my old DualSense with the PS5 Pro? The PS5 Pro is officially delivered with a DualSense controller, and existing DualSense controllers can be connected. The same applies to the DualSense Edge, the official Pro controller for the PS5.
So you don’t have to buy new controllers. The old devices still work.
PS5 Pro: The following accessories work with the new console
Is the PS5 Pro compatible with PS5 accessories? Yes, the PS5 Pro is compatible with accessories for the regular PS5. Specifically, Sony lists the following accessories:
- DualSense Controller
- PlayStation VR 2
- PlayStation Portal
- DualSense Edge
- Access Controller
- Pulse Elite
- Pulse Explore
All devices that you can connect to your PS5 via USB or a USB dongle should also be compatible and work.
The official internal drive for the PS5 Slim is also expected to be compatible with the PS5 Pro, as the dimensions of the console are identical. Sony even states in its blog post:
The PS5 Pro is available as a console without a drive, while the currently available disc drive for the PS5 can be purchased separately.
What is not compatible with the PS5 Pro? All devices that you could not use with the PS5 before. This includes the old DualShock controllers and PSVR for the PS4.
According to initial statements, the PS5 will also continue to not support Bluetooth connections. Headphones or headsets that rely on Bluetooth will also not be supported by the PS5 Pro.
