What kind of console is this? The PS5 Pro is the direct successor to the PlayStation 5 and thus Sony’s latest console. Visually, it follows the design of the Slim model series of the PS5. The PS5 Pro will also not have a drive, but you can upgrade it like the Digital Edition of the PS5 Slim.

PS5 Pro: Drive, differences to PS5, and side plates
How does the PS5 Pro differ from the predecessor model? In addition to new features such as improved hardware, there are also visual differences. The console, like the digital-only PS5, no longer has a drive. The design of the PS5 remains identical, although with ventilation grates on the sides. According to the PlayStation blog, the console is supposed to have the same dimensions as the original PS5.

Will there be a PS5 Pro with an optical drive? The PS5 Pro will be sold as a console without a drive, but you can buy a drive later. This works just like with the PS5 Slim without a drive. The price for the drive for the PS5 Slim is €119.99.
Can the side plates be swapped? Yes, the side plates can be swapped. Currently, it is unclear whether the PS5 side plates will fit.
PS5 Pro: Performance and compatible accessories
How many FPS will the PS5 Pro achieve? According to Sony, the PS5 Pro is supposed to achieve stable 60 FPS at 4K. The frame rate is expected to be supported by AI Upscaling, dthe so-called “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution” (PSSR), providing a better, sharper image.

The PS5 Pro will be released just in time for the Christmas shopping season. In Germany, its price is around €800, which is significantly higher than the current €549 for the PS5 with a drive. MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz states: The PS5 Pro is twice as expensive as the PS4 Pro at release, making it a luxury item for the living room.
