MMORPGs are currently very popular on PS4 and Xbox One. More and more developers are adapting their games for PS4 and Xbox One. But which classics do console players wish for the most?
Especially Tera gives many MMORPG fans hope. With a 6-year delay, the action MMORPG will be released on PS4 and Xbox One. The reasoning: Now is the right time because PS4 and Xbox One’s online orientation is more suitable for MMORPGs than earlier console generations.
If a 6-year-old MMORPG can get ported, what about other PC MMORPGs? Which games do console players wish for PS4 and Xbox One? And what are the chances? Will there ever be a WoW for PS4 or Xbox One?
World of Warcraft
The classic. Blizzard’s MMORPG remains one of the most popular representatives of the genre even after over 12 years. WoW offers countless content through six expansions and a profound lore.
World of Warcraft achieved at release in 2004 what most MMORPGs could only dream of. It reached such a large target group that at one point over 10 million subscribers played the fantasy game. Even though this player count has significantly shrunk now, the MMORPG still enjoys great popularity.
World of Warcraft is not available for consoles, although it would certainly find a large following on Xbox One and PS4. But Blizzard has no ambitions for a port.
Significant adjustments would probably be necessary, especially regarding the UI and controls. However, other MMORPGs have shown that this is feasible. A port for the current console generation is very unlikely, even though Blizzard is increasingly active in the console segment. Plans for a console WoW are not yet known.
