Sony has recently announced the new free PS Plus games for September 2020. This time, fans of battle royale shooters and fighting games have reason to rejoice. For all PlayStation Plus subscribers, there are 2 strong representatives of each genre available for PS4. And now both new PS Plus games are ready for download in the PS Store.
These PS Plus games await you in September 2020: As Sony recently announced, the following monthly titles are available for the PlayStation 4:
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) – one of the most prominent representatives of the battle royale genre
- and Street Fighter V – fighting fun from one of the most popular “beat ’em up” series
When can you download these new free games in the PS Store? The two new PS Plus games are now available for download in the PlayStation Store for all PS Plus members.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)
What is PUBG? PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG for short, is one of the games that truly launched the battle royale genre in 2017. The game was developed by the modder Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, who essentially invented the genre while creating mods for the military simulation ARMA.
PUBG adheres to the classic formula of battle royale: up to 100 players parachute onto a map, search for weapons and equipment, and then fight until only one winner or team remains. The experience has since been augmented with additional maps, seasons with battle passes (currently, season 8 is ongoing), and events.
The gameplay in PUBG is not as fast-paced as in Fortnite, Apex Legends, or CoD: Warzone. In PUBG, the focus is more on tactical and methodical gameplay.
You should check out PUBG if other battle royale games have become too hectic and quick for you. If you prefer grounded BR action and enjoy realistic weapons and tactical gameplay, you can’t really go wrong here – especially for free.

Street Fighter V
What is Street Fighter V? The Street Fighter series is considered one of the pioneers in the fighting game genre – the so-called beat ’em ups or brawlers. And for many, Street Fighter V belongs to the best entries in this series.
As is customary for the series, the setting of Street Fighter V revolves around a tournament in which the world’s best martial arts fighters compete against each other.
Players have more than 15 characters to choose from. These include classics like Ryu or Ken, but there are also some fresh faces. In addition to the traditional 1v1, there is an arcade mode where players can learn the history of the series and the individual characters. Additionally, one can compete in the challenge mode, where specific challenges must be overcome.
The gameplay excels with its classic style of play, where combat primarily relies on standard attacks. You charge your special attacks to deal greater damage to your opponent.
You should check out Street Fighter V if you are a fan of classic straightforward fighting games. There is little fluff here; the simple combat is in the foreground.
Also, if you grew up with the “Street Fighter” series and liked the concept, you can’t go wrong with Street Fighter V. But even if you are completely new but interested in beat ’em ups, Street Fighter V is definitely worth a look. With a little practice, even beginners can quickly access the game. And the combat mechanics are among the best the genre has to offer.
