The ambitious mech MMO “Project HON” will never see the light of day. Development has been discontinued.
Giant robots smashing and shooting each other do not seem to align with the current zeitgeist in South Korea. This was the conclusion reached by the MMO specialist NCSoft, leading to the discontinuation of “Project HON,” which had been in development since 2011. It was based on the Unreal Engine 4 and appeared in trailers to provide a potential alternative for the local mech fanbase to the few current mech games.
Two months ago, developers of Project HON were also involved in embezzlement, but allegedly, this did not play a role. Rather, they no longer believed in a sufficiently large target audience for the game. NCSoft plans to focus on Lineage Eternal and Master X Master MXM in the future. These are the two games in the pipeline.
