Another mobile MMO comes from Korea. Project EX focuses on turn-based strategy gameplay and beautiful Unreal Engine 4 graphics. A first gameplay trailer shows the full splendor and the gameplay in action.
If you still believe that mobile games are pixelated creations without depth, you should take a look at current mobile MMOs like Lineage 2 Revolution, Royal Blood, Arena of Valor, or the recently shown Project EX in Korea. Project EX utilizes the powerful Unreal Engine 4 and looks as great as a current PC or console game.
Project EX combines turn-based strategy with MMO gameplay
Project EX comes from the Korean developer NX Games. The game lets you choose from 5 predefined heroes. These include a knight tank, a nimble archer, a sexy assassin, and a scruffy wizard in Gandalf style.
In a team with other players, you command entire armies with your heroes and attack fortresses. The gameplay allows for regular pauses according to the trailer. You choose what your hero should do, thus decimating the enemy.
Classic dungeons and mass battles
Later, you see how the heroes storm the fortress as a group and beat down enemies in typical MMO fashion. The useful pause function is also employed here, allowing you to carefully plan and execute your tactical skills. However, it is still unclear how exactly this pause is implemented in the game or if it is simply turn-based strategy.
But no matter how it plays, Project EX makes a good first impression and could become another cool mobile MMO.
