The new MMORPG Legend of Ymir launches today. The developers focused on great graphics and Unreal Engine 5, but there are also some criticism points.
What kind of MMORPG is it? Legend of Ymir is a theme park MMORPG set in Norse mythology that lets you become a true Viking. The title impresses with beautiful graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5.
In terms of gameplay, the developers implemented five classes: Berserker, Skalde, Völva, War Lord, and Archer. The combat features a tab-targeting system, which is somewhat broken up by action skills. However, this is only needed if the player consciously decides to engage in combat; otherwise, the character fights on its own.
The game’s theme park offers a colorful mix of PvE and PvP content. Included are dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, guild vs. guild battles, siege battles, and world bosses. However, the MMORPG also has many features that usually do not resonate well in the West.

Blockchain, Play-to-Earn and Auto-Fight
What bothers about the MMORPG? When it comes to MMORPGs, there are significant regional differences in what players like and what they do not. While Pay2Win is not an issue in Korea, many players in the West have concerns about it. The same goes for autoplay.
However, Legend of Ymir did not make extensive adjustments at its launch in the West to appeal to local players. Moreover, the global release still includes Play-To-Earn aspects that allow players to earn cryptocurrency through gameplay (via LegendofYmir.com).
The game’s autoplay system (via LegendofYmir.com) has also made its way into the Western version. While it is not good enough to win in PvP or raids, it is said to be sufficient for farming and questing.
Where can you play Legend of Ymir? The new MMORPG is not available on Steam. Instead, the new game can only be launched through the in-house launcher available at LegendofYmir.com, or downloaded from the Google Play Store and on iOS.
In addition to classic theme park elements, the MMORPG aims to offer its own eSports cup, where the best guilds compete against each other in PvP. As servers compete against each other, choosing the right game server is important for the later progress.
Legend of Ymir looks like a beautiful MMORPG with plenty of content at first glance. Unfortunately, the developers have hardly considered Western players during the localization, who are known to have little interest in autoplay, Play-To-Earn, and cryptocurrency.
