On Steam, you can secure a popular action series for only €20. It includes 4 games that will keep you busy for about 65 hours.
Which games are we talking about? We’re talking about Darksiders – a hack and slash series where you play as the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The Darksiders games are quite popular on Steam:
- The original is available on Steam with the Warmastered Edition. It has a total of 11,890 ratings, 87% of which are positive.
- Darksiders 2 in the Deathinitive Edition is positively received on Steam, with 78% positive reviews out of a total of 14,419 ratings. Looking at the 157 recent reviews, the game performs even better with 81% positive.
- Darksiders 3 shows a similar trend: Out of currently 10,763 reviews on Steam, 76% are positive, with 82% positive ratings from the 92 recent reviews.
- With the prequel Darksiders Genesis, the series transitioned from a third-person view to a top-down perspective, and it features co-op. Overall, this part also receives “very positive” feedback on Steam, with 82% of the 9,459 reviews recommending the game.
At a showcase by the publisher THQ Nordic on August 1, a fourth installment of the series was announced. If you’ve only seen this teaser and haven’t played the series yet, now would be a good time to start.

The Horsemen of the Apocalypse… save the world?
What are the games about?
- In the first Darksiders, you follow the horseman named War. He was betrayed by the forces of evil and is accused of prematurely triggering the end of the world.
- In part 2, you play as Death, the most feared of the apocalyptic horsemen. This time he wants to save humanity and clear his brother’s name.
- The main character of Darksiders 3 is Fury – the horsewoman is on the hunt for the seven deadly sins.
- Darksiders Genesis is a prequel to the original and introduces Strife as a new horseman, who is to thwart the plans of the demon king Lucifer together with War.
On Steam, you can get the Darksiders Ultimate Edition – this includes all previous parts including DLCs – for only €19.75. Normally, you’d have to pay nearly €100 for the collection. However, the offer won’t last much longer. You only have until August 8.
Not much is known about Darksiders 4 yet. However, the story is said to start where the original Darksiders game left off. If you want to prepare for the new installment, it should suffice to play the original. It’s available on Steam separately for €3.99.
How long will I be occupied with it? According to the website howlongtobeat.com, the first Darksiders alone offers around 17 hours of gameplay with its main story. Part 2 is slightly longer at 20 hours, while Darksiders 3 and Darksiders Genesis are slightly shorter at 14 hours.
Overall, you will be well occupied with the action series for about 65 hours if you only pursue the main story. If you collect all the extras along the way, you’ll come to nearly 90 hours.
A new action role-playing game was also presented at the THQ Nordic Showcase. It was released the same day and is currently quite successful on Steam.
