This week in Pokémon GO, you can find all Deoxys forms in raids. Learn how to defeat the Normal form, Speed form, Attack form, and Defense form of the former EX Raid Boss here.
You can find Deoxys here: In Pokémon GO, this week begins the second part of the Ultra Bonus. With it, Deoxys will appear in regular level-5 raids. Previously, you could only challenge and catch Deoxys as an EX Raid Boss.
What is special about Deoxys: Deoxys can be encountered in four different forms.
- Normal form
- Attack form
- Defense form
- Speed form
As part of the Ultra Bonus, you can challenge all four Deoxys forms in raids. We will introduce the forms and show you the counters you should use against them. Many counters for Deoxys are currently available in raids!
Basic tips for catching Deoxys: Deoxys is a Psychic-type Pokémon. Once you’ve defeated it, you can increase your catch chances by using berries or making excellent throws. The different forms of the Pokémon differ slightly from one another.
Best counters against the Normal form
These attacks are used by Deoxys in the Normal form: If you challenge Deoxys in the Normal form, it can primarily know Psychic and Electric attacks.
Normal Deoxys can use Zen Headbutt (Psychic) or Charge Beam (Electric) as its fast attack. For its charge attacks, it can use Psyshock (Psychic), Thunderbolt (Electric), and Hyper Beam (Normal).
The normal Deoxys has an attack value of 345 and a defense value of 115. So in theory, it can deal a lot of damage, but it can’t take much.
These are the best counters against Normal Deoxys: Deoxys is weak against Ghost, Dark, and Bug-type Pokémon. The best counters against Deoxys in the Normal form are:
- Giratina with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch
- Attack form Deoxys with Sludge Bomb and Dark Pulse
- Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
Alternatively, you can also use Banette, Kramshef, Scizor, Absol, and Raikou if you have the right attack combinations (movesets).
Best counters against the Speed form
These attacks are used by Deoxys in the Speed form: In the Speed form, Deoxys has a slightly changed moveset.
It also has Zen Headbutt and Charge Beam as its fast attacks. For the charge attacks, Speed Deoxys knows Psyshock (Psychic), Meteor Mash (Steel), and Thunder Cannon (Electric).
It has an attack value of 230 and a defense value of 218. In battle, it isn’t very useful. This form was the last one you could get in EX Raids.
These are the best counters against Speed Deoxys: For Deoxys in the Speed form, the following counters are recommended.
- Giratina with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch
- Gengar with Lick and Shadow Ball
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball
- Snibunna with Faint Attack and Leech Seed
Alternatively, you can rely on Kramshef, Traunmagil, Raikou, Scizor, or Banette. A player duo even managed to defeat the Speed form with a Gengar team in duo.
Best counters against the Defense form
These attacks are used by Deoxys in the Defense form: Defense Deoxys also knows the Psychic attack Zen Headbutt, but can also learn the Fighting attack Counter. The charge attacks include Psyshock (Psychic), Rock Slide (Rock), and Thunder Cannon (Electric).
It has a defense value of 330, while its attack value is 144. So it can take a lot of hits, but offensively it isn’t particularly dangerous – since you can’t use it in gyms, it is of little use.
However, you will need at least three players to take on the Defense form – probably more.
These are the best counters against Defense Deoxys: Against the Defense form, you are best prepared with Ghost and Dark-type Pokémon. The best counters are:
- Giratina with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball
- Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Snibunna with Faint Attack and Leech Seed
Following them are Banette, Raikou, Absol, Pinsir, and Traunmagil.
Best counters against the Attack form
These attacks are used by Deoxys in the Attack form: As the name suggests, the Attack form is fully focused on offense. The huge attack value of 414 is impressive, but the defense of 46 significantly hinders this Deoxys form. It could theoretically deal a lot of damage, but it doesn’t last long in battle.
The Attack form knows Zen Headbutt and Sludge Bomb as its fast attacks. The charge attacks are Psyshock (Psychic), Dark Pulse (Dark), and Thunder Cannon (Electric). You could even defeat this form alone in EX Raids.
These are the best counters against Attack Deoxys: This Deoxys form is also vulnerable to similar Pokémon. The best ones to try are:
- Giratina with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball
- Gengar with Lick and Shadow Ball
- Snibunna with Faint Attack and Leech Seed
If you already have an Attack Deoxys, you can send it into battle as well. Next are Kramshef, Raikou, Houndoom, and Absol as good candidates. As part of the Ultra Bonus, several good counters for Deoxys will be available in raids.
