Team GO Rocket returns to Pokémon GO again. This time, Shadow Tornadus will be available for the first time in this form during the event.
What is this event about? The next Rocket event is called
Psychic Spectacular: Taken Over. It will start on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM and will run until Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
In addition to some content that you already know from previous Rocket events, there will also be a Pokémon debut and Tornadus – available for the first time in its shadow form.

How to obtain Shadow Tornadus? You can obtain Shadow Tornadus by defeating Giovanni. During the event, you will receive a special research task that rewards you with a Super Rocket Radar upon completion. With it, you can hunt down and challenge Giovanni and catch Shadow Tornadus.
Which new Pokémon are available? Indeedee, the Psychic-Normal Pokémon from generation 8, will make its debut in the event. You can hatch it from 5 km eggs.
What new shadow monsters are there? Alongside a rotating pool of monsters from the 3 Rocket bosses, there will also be some monsters that will be available for the first time in their shadow variants:
- Shadow Qwilfish
- Shadow Swablu
- Shadow Baltoy
- Shadow Deino
Which monsters are in the event? You can encounter event Pokémon in both the wild and in raids and eggs during the takeover.
In the wild:

In 5 km eggs:
- Smoochum*

- Indeedee*
In 3-star raids:
- Alolan Raichu*

All monsters marked with a * can also appear as Shiny.
What bonuses are available during the event? As you are used to from Rocket events, there will be some bonuses active. These include:
- more candies when catching with nice, great, and excellent throws
- eggs require only half the distance to hatch
- increased chance of XL candies with nice, great, and excellent throws (from level 31)
- Team GO Rocket appears more frequently in balloons and at PokéStops
- the charged move Frustration can be forgotten by using a charged TM
- Pokémon from shadow raids of levels 1 and 3 have highly varying IV values
- Event field research tasks with instant and charged TMs as well as mysterious components
Paid limited research: For $4.99 (about €5), you can also purchase a paid limited research. In this, you will receive among other rewards 2 premium battle passes, 1 Super Rocket Radar, and encounters with Ralts, Gothita, and Wyrdeer as rewards.
