An overview of the 3rd generation in Pokémon GO: Wailmer and Wailord are the giant whale Pokémon, considered among the largest monsters. Heavy competition for the tired giant “Snorlax”.
To prepare for the third generation in Pokémon GO, we will introduce you to a few special specimens. Why are we already talking about the third generation? The name list of the new Pokémon has already been found in the code.
This time it’s about the water Pokémon Wailmer and Wailord, known as “whale Pokémon.” Are they the new must-have tanks for raid battles?
Where can you find Wailmer or Wailord in Pokémon GO, how strong are they?
The two giant sea creatures can presumably be found in water biomes. At the beach, along coastlines, near the sea, and at larger lakes.
The attack and defense values of Wailmer and Wailord
Experts have already calculated the values of the third generation Pokémon for Pokémon GO. The same formula was used as for the Pokémon of the 2nd generation. Therefore, the following values for Wailmer and Wailord in Pokémon GO are assumed:
- Wailmer
- ATK: 136
- DEF: 68
- HP: 260
- Max. CP: 1424
- Excerpt from the PokéDex (Ruby Version): Wailmer’s nostrils are above its eyes. This playful Pokémon loves to frighten people by spouting seawater stored in its body with all its might.
- Wailord
- ATK: 175
- DEF: 87
- HP: 340
- Max. CP: 2258
- Excerpt from the PokéDex (Ruby Version): Wailord is currently the largest of all identified Pokémon. It floats motionlessly on the open sea and consumes enormous amounts of food through its gigantic mouth.
With its 340 stamina points, Wailord is in the range of Snorlax. Its ATK value of 175 is just above that of Blastoise (171 ATK). Since there is no Mega Evolution for the whale Pokémon, these are the highest values we expect.
Do the whales fit into the meta or even in gyms?
We assume that the whales can perform well in certain situations. They are probably not the new ultimate choice. Wailmer and Wailord fight effectively against ground, rock, and fire-type Pokémon.
It becomes problematic (at least visually) when trying to fit the giant whales into a gym. Wailord measures over 14 meters in length and weighs 398 kilos.
We anticipate the following attacks for Wailord
- Hydro Pump
- Lake
- Avalanche
- Blizzard
- Icy Wind
- Body Slam
Shiny Wailmer and Wailord
A normal Wailmer has a dark blue back and a light belly. A normal Wailord has a blue back with white spots and a light belly.
The shiny variants of both Pokémon have a purple back – the belly remains the same.
