A new update for Pokémon GO is available. It introduces a new move and announces a winter event.
Pokémon GO players can look forward to a new update and some new features. Among other things, Pokémon will receive a tag to indicate the year they were caught. The new version of Pokémon GO is currently in rollout and will be released gradually for players.
Data miners have closely examined and presented the content. We will show you what innovations can be found in the current update.
New Move: Power-Up Punch
Move for Lucario: In the update, the move Power-Up Punch was found. This move is of Fighting type and can only be learned by Lucario.
Move not yet in the game: This move has only been added for now and is not yet available. One could speculate that there may be an event related to Lucario and this move. Perhaps Niantic will also assign it to other Pokémon.
New Event in Winter 2018
An event for winter was found in the update. So far, there has been an event every Christmas season in Pokémon GO, so this news will come as no surprise.
Pokémon in Costumes: In keeping with the event, there will also be Pokémon in special costumes. Whether this includes a Pikachu with a hat or other Pokémon is not confirmed.
When does the event start? Currently, the Let’s GO Event in Pokémon GO is still ongoing. One can assume that the winter event will start sometime in December.
Tags for Older Pokémon
Easier for Trading: It is already known that older Pokémon have a higher chance of becoming a Lucky Pokémon when traded. To see directly which Pokémon are how old, Pokémon from the years 2017 and 2016 have received a tag through the update.
Forms of Burmy Added
Three Forms of Burmy: Burmy is a Pokémon of the 4th generation that can appear in different forms. It takes the form of its environment. Burmy has a Plant Cloak, one with a Sand Cloak, and one with a Trash Cloak.
Possible Release: Since all three forms have now been found in the code, one could assume a soon release of the Pokémon. When this will happen is not known.
Geofencing in the Code
What is Geofencing? A lot of new information about Geofencing was found in the update. With Geofencing, virtual boundaries can be drawn using GPS. If these virtual boundaries are crossed, a notification can be triggered.
What could Pokémon GO bring? With these virtual boundaries, it could be possible to better separate regions where special Pokémon spawn. Regional Pokémon could thus receive better borders. However, this is still only speculation.
Further Innovations
Further minor innovations have been found in the update. The following things are included in the new update:
- Facebook friends can now be found as friends in the game if the accounts are linked.
- Customer support has been improved through Helpshift. This is not directly recognizable in the game, but communication with support is said to have improved.
- Diverse sorting functions have been revised.
- Many bugs have been fixed. Various bug fixes have been found in the code.
