Shiny Pokémon are extremely rare in Pokémon GO. Nevertheless, this trainer intentionally lets one escape to clarify a question.
On one side, players are frustrated that they haven’t found a single shiny yet, while other trainers let them escape on purpose. What sounds like a crazy world is hard science!
A curious trainer examined the journal, shinys, and the GO Plus gadget from Pokémon GO.
Is an escaped shiny that wasn’t caught by the GO+ recorded?
A question has long been in the air and trainers have never been able to answer it properly. The stakes for the answer would be the loss of a valuable monster. The question is:
If the GO Plus finds a shiny but doesn’t catch it … what is shown in the journal?
- an escaped shiny or
- an escaped “normal” Pokémon
Trainers are therefore looking for an answer to this question because they want to find out with a clear conscience: “Ahh, no shiny is shown in the journal. Then my GO Plus has only let normal monsters escape.”
Currently, there is still an aftertaste with the question: Does the journal really show the correct data? But this question has now been clarified!
Shiny in the journal? Yes or No?
A brave trainer, who goes by the name Ghubuli on Reddit, tested the journal of Pokémon GO. He found a shiny Magikarp in the wild, let it be discovered by his GO Plus gadget, and hoped that it would escape during the catch attempt.
And as fate would have it, the golden fish escaped. And what was recorded in the journal?
His journal in Pokémon GO showed the trainer that a normal Pokémon escaped.
Dear GO Plus users: Many shiny Pokémon may have escaped you without you knowing. Whether this is concerning or relieving must be decided by each individual. We thank Ghubuli for his strong efforts and for clarifying the question!
