Today marks the start of the New Year’s event in Pokémon GO. We at MeinMMO will show you what time the event starts, what bonuses there are, and what content you can expect.
What kind of event is this? Pokémon GO is celebrating the new year with a suitable New Year’s event. In addition to festive avatar items, there will be costumed Pokémon, raids featuring Reshiram and Mega-Steelix, as well as egg bonuses and fireworks. We’ll show you the details in the following overview.
New Year’s Event 2022 – All Information on Start, Bonuses, and Content
When does the event take place? The event starts today, Saturday, December 31 at 10:00 PM and runs until January 4, 2023, at 8:00 PM local time. Just before the start of the New Year’s event, the Christmas Event Winter Holidays Part 2 will also end.
Bonuses:
- Eggs placed in an incubator during the event will hatch twice as fast.
- Quarter hatch distance for the first three eggs that are hatched using the Pokémon egg widget in Pokémon GO during the event.
Eggs: From the 7 km eggs you receive during the event, the following Pokémon can hatch:

The Pokémon marked with a star (*) can be encountered as Shiny.
Pokémon Debuts: During the New Year’s event, you will have the opportunity to catch a Pikachu wearing a party cylinder for the first time. With a bit of luck, you might even get the Pikachu as Shiny.
Additionally, you will be able to evolve Hoothoot in New Year’s outfit into Noctowl in New Year’s outfit.
Wild Pokémon: During the event, you will encounter the following Pokémon in the wild.

Exclusive Attack: When you catch Reshiram in raid battles, it learns the exclusive move “Flame Burst”. It deals 90 damage in trainer battles and 140 damage in arena and raid battles.
Avatar Items: During the event and afterward, the avatar items “Pikachu Party Hat” and “Party Popper Pose” will be available in the shop.
Map Change: As long as the New Year’s event is running, festive fireworks will light up the sky.
Field Research: There will be New Year’s field research tasks corresponding to the event, for completing which you will receive stardust.
Collector Challenge: In addition to the New Year’s field research tasks, there will also be a New Year’s collector challenge that will also grant stardust upon completion.
