The Legendary Pokémon from Generation 3
In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, the legendary Pokémon gained a lot of newcomers. In total, there are 10 new legendary Pokémon in Generation 3. Among them are even the Pokémon that, according to Poké mythology, shaped and created land and sea.
The Legendary Golem Trio: Regirock, Regice, Registeel
The three legendary golems are particularly difficult to obtain in the handheld editions, as they must first be freed through various means. It remains to be seen whether Niantic will devise something special to make the golems available in Pokémon GO.
#377 Regirock
- Type: Rock
- Strong against types: Normal, Fire, Flying, Poison
- Weak against types: Steel, Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground
- Description: Regirock was sealed away by humans long ago. If this Pokémon’s body takes damage in battle, it looks for suitable stones to repair itself.
#378 Regice
- Type: Ice
- Strong against types: Ice
- Weak against types: Fire, Fighting, Rock, Steel
- Description: Regice’s frozen body formed during the ice age. It cannot even be melted by fire. This Pokémon controls icy air at minus 200 degrees.
#379 Registeel
- Type: Steel
- Strong against types: Normal, Grass, Flying, Rock, Bug, Ice, Psychic, Dragon, Steel, Fairy, Poison
- Weak against types: Fire, Fighting, Ground
- Description: Registeel was imprisoned by humans in ancient times. The metal that makes up its body is a strange substance said to not belong to this world.
The Legendary Siblings: Latias and Latios
These two dragons are siblings and flee from trainers in the handheld editions – just like the three legendary beasts from Generation 2. These legendary dogs/cats are joyfully rotating continents in Pokémon GO. Perhaps we are in for something similar with Latias and Latios.
#380 Latias
- Type: Dragon/Psychic
- Strong against types: Ground, Grass, Fire, Water, Electric, Fighting, Psychic
- Weak against types: Bug, Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Fairy
- Description: Latias is very intelligent and can understand human language. It is covered in glassy down. This Pokémon wraps its body in the down and can bend light to change its shape.
#381 Latios
- Type: Dragon/Psychic
- Strong against types: Ground, Grass, Fire, Water, Electric, Fighting, Psychic
- Weak against types: Bug, Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Fairy
- Description: Latios only shares its heart with its trainer. This Pokémon flies faster than an airplane by folding its front legs to reduce air resistance.
The Legendary Weather Trio: Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza
These ancient Pokémon are said to have created the weather and shaped the earth. They are also referred to as the Element Trio. Kyogre is said to manipulate the sea and rain. Groudon is said to have even created entire continents. Rayquaza is the leader of the trio and represents the sky and wind.
#382 Kyogre
- Type: Water
- Strong against types: Fire, Water, Ice, Steel
- Weak against types: Electric, Grass
- Description: In mythology, Kyogre appears as the Pokémon that enlarged the ocean by causing torrential rains and floods. After a catastrophic battle with Groudon, it laid down to sleep.
#383 Groudon
- Type: Ground
- Strong against types: Electric, Poison, Rock
- Weak against types: Grass, Water, Ice
- Description: Groudon was long described in mythology as a Pokémon that can create land and enlarge continents. This Pokémon fell asleep after a fierce battle with Kyogre.
#384 Rayquaza
- Type: Dragon/Flying
- Strong against types: Ground, Grass, Fire, Water, Fighting, Bug
- Weak against types: Rock, Dragon, Fairy, Ice
- Description: Rayquaza is said to have lived for hundreds of millions of years in Earth’s ozone layer above the clouds. Therefore, its existence was unknown for so long.
Two Galactic Legendaries: Jirachi and Deoxys
Jirachi and Deoxys are sometimes referred to as a legendary duo. However, they don’t have a real connection to each other. Both have a relation to the galaxy, which is why we mention them together here.
#385 Jirachi
- Type: Steel/Psychic
- Strong against types: Poison, Psychic, Normal, Grass, Flying, Rock, Ice, Dragon, Steel, Fairy
- Weak against types: Fire, Ground, Ghost, Dark
- Description: Jirachi will wake from its thousand-year slumber if you sing to it with a clear voice. It is said to grant all of people’s wishes.
#386 Deoxys
- Type: Psychic
- Strong against types: Fighting, Psychic
- Weak against types: Bug, Ghost, Dark
- Description: The DNA of a space virus experienced a spontaneous mutation after being hit by a laser beam. This resulted in Deoxys. The crystalline organ on the chest of this Pokémon is its brain.
