In Pokémon GO, a new event is starting. And it brings you a new monster and another one that is shiny for the first time.
What kind of event is this? The event is called “Adventure Week”. There has been an event with this name in previous years. The 2025 edition starts on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM and ends on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
How to get Tentacool? In the event, you can catch Tentacool for the first time in the game. The Pokémon has been around since Generation 9 and has the types Ground and Grass, with Tentaroo as its evolution.
You can find the Pokémon in the biome “Forests and Green Areas”. If you want to catch it, you should look out for it in that area. However, it spawns less frequently than the other monsters that can appear in that biome during the event.

Which monster will appear shiny for the first time? In addition to the Tentacool debut, there is also a monster that can appear shiny for the first time in the event: Ahnja. You can find the monster in the biome “Beaches and Waters”.
Which Pokémon are in the event? Not only Tentacool and Ahnja are waiting for you in the event. The following Pokémon can appear in the respective biomes during the event.

- double XP for catching Pokémon
- Incense lasts for 2 hours when activated during the event (excluding daily adventure incense)
- Event field researches with stardust, special candies, and event Pokémon as rewards
- free time-limited research with 1 incense, 4 special candies, event Pokémon, and other rewards
