For the Solstice event in Pokémon GO, there are special boxes in the shop containing Super Incubators. Which box is the best value?
Currently, the Solstice event (actually Equinox) is active in Pokémon GO. During the event, there are special 2km eggs, double Stardust, and also special bundles available in the in-game shop. All Solstice bonuses can be found here.
The bundles are filled with Super Incubators, Lucky Eggs, and Lure Modules and are available at different prices. We will explain which box offers you the best value here.
Special, Super or Hyper Box?
The Super Incubators can be found since the start of the Solstice event in the new shop bundles. They hatch eggs at 1.5 times the speed and have three charges. Unfortunately, the devices cannot be purchased individually.
Last night, on September 22nd at around 10:00 PM, the Equinox event started in Pokémon GO. In the game’s shop, you now have three bundles to choose from:
The three boxes have different amounts and contents.
- When purchasing a Special Box for 480 coins, you will receive
- 3 Super Incubators
- 5 Lure Modules
- Here, a Super Incubator would cost 160 coins (480 / 3)
- When purchasing a Super Box for 980 coins, you will receive
- 5 Super Incubators
- 10 Lure Modules
- 4 Lucky Eggs
- Here, a Super Incubator would cost 196 coins (196 / 5)
- When purchasing the Hyper Box for 1480 coins, you will receive
- 8 Super Incubators
- 15 Lure Modules
- 8 Lucky Eggs
- Here, a Super Incubator would cost 185 coins (1480 / 8)
Help, Math! What does this mean?
Simply put, the calculations mean:
- Special Box: If you only want Super Incubators and do not need Lucky Eggs, the Special Box is a good choice.
- Super Box: The Super Box is not as “super” as it seems. While you do get many Lure Modules and a few Lucky Eggs, you will have to pay much more for the Incubators. If you want a nice all-inclusive package, you should consider the Hyper Box.
- Hyper Box: The Hyper Box is the most expensive option, which you cannot obtain with a charge from the €10.99 coin pack. This means you have to buy a larger PokéCoins package (or two small ones). However, you will get a lot for it. The price per Incubator lies between the Special and Super Box.
Why is the Super Box not rated well? It looks like the ideal middle ground!
The reason the Super Box performs poorly is the price/performance ratio. Reddit user yaminokaabii explained this with the following examples:
- 6 Special Boxes for 2880 coins provide 18 Super Incubators, 0 Lucky Eggs, and 30 Lure Modules
- 3 Super Boxes for 2940 coins provide 15 Super Incubators, 12 Lucky Eggs, and 30 Lure Modules
- 2 Hyper Boxes for 2960 coins provide 16 Super Incubators, 16 Lucky Eggs, and 30 Lure Modules
One additional Super Incubator and four Lucky Eggs for just 20 extra coins show that the 2 Hyper Boxes are more worthwhile than 3 Super Boxes.
This is all too complicated with the calculations – give me clear words!
If you want the best price for Super Incubators and do not need any additional items, get the Special Boxes.
If you want a little of everything? Go for the Hyper Box.
