The update regarding PvP is probably the biggest Pokémon GO update in a long time. The battle mode is not the only new feature. Now you can teach your Pokémon a second Charged Attack.
How can a Pokémon learn a second Charged Attack? By using Stardust and Candies, you can teach your Pokémon this second attack. However, the costs vary with the Pokémon.
We show you how much the costs are for each Pokémon.
How much Stardust and Candies you need to invest
The cost system is based on the buddy distance, meaning how much you need to walk until your buddy finds a Candy. Accordingly, there are four different values:
- 1 km: 10,000 Stardust and 25 Candies for the second Charged Attack
- Examples: Gyarados, Butterfree, Golem
- 3 km: 50,000 Stardust and 50 Candies for the second Charged Attack
- Examples: Machamp, Muk, Electivire
- 5 km: 75,000 Stardust and 75 Candies for the second Charged Attack
- Examples: Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence
- 20 km: 100,000 Stardust and 100 Candies for the second Charged Attack
- Examples: Articuno, Raikou, Groudon
Are there exceptions? Some Pokémon are exempt from this rule. These include:
- All starters: They only cost 10,000 Stardust and 25 Candies, instead of 50,000 Stardust and 50 Candies.
- Baby Pokémon: They also belong to the first category and only cost 10,000 Stardust and 25 Candies.
Note this trick: Baby Pokémon could give you an advantage. They only cost 10,000 Stardust to learn a new Charged Attack. For example, if you evolve Elekid into Electivire, the second Charged Attack costs 50,000 Stardust. So you should first teach the baby the second Charged Attack and then evolve it. The attack remains, you just save a lot of Stardust.
The same applies in reverse for some 4th generation evolutions. For instance, the second Charged Attack for Skorglas costs 75,000 Stardust, while the second Charged Attack for its evolution Skorgro only costs 50,000 Stardust.
