Pokémon GO: Spotlight hour tomorrow brings Feebas, candy and a reason to walk

When does the Spotlight Hour start? The third Spotlight Hour in July starts on July 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM. It will last for 60 minutes, ending at 7:00 PM.

What is the Pokémon of the day? Barschwa is the Pokémon of the Spotlight Hour. You will encounter it everywhere in the wild during this period.

Can Barschwa be shiny? Yes, you can also catch Barschwa as a shiny. However, the chance is not increased, so you will need some luck.

Which bonus is active? You will receive double the amount of candies for each catch. This applies to all Pokémon, including Raid bosses and Dynamax monsters. Tip: Use a Sananabeere to double the amount again.

Is the Spotlight Hour with Barschwa worth it?

Barschwa’s strength: Unfortunately, not strong at all. The Water-type Pokémon evolves into Milotic, which is also not among the top Water attackers in Pokémon GO. In the PvP league, you might use Milotic in the Ultra and Master Leagues, but there are many better alternatives there.

Why is the Spotlight Hour worth it? It’s especially worth it if you still need a Milotic in your Pokédex. Barschwa does not appear constantly, so this is a very good opportunity to collect the necessary 100 candies for the evolution.

Why do I have to walk? This is due to Milotic, as the Pokémon not only requires 100 candies for the evolution but also needs you to walk 20 kilometers with the Barschwa you want to evolve as your buddy.

This means: If you plan to evolve a Milotic after the Spotlight Hour, you should be prepared to walk a few more kilometers first.
