Today, on January 2, 2024, the Spotlight Hour with Formeo starts in Pokémon GO. In this guide, we show you everything about the times, shinies, and the bonuses of the short event.
What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday evening, an event of this kind takes place in Pokémon GO. For one hour, a selected Pokémon is in the focus of the game and can often be found by you. Additionally, there is a bonus that grants you more stardust, candies, or experience points. Niantic determines the combination of Pokémon and bonus that appear in the events at the beginning of each month.
Today, you will encounter the Pokémon Formeo from the third generation. It belongs to the Normal type and can change its form depending on the weather.
Spotlight Hour on January 2 – Start, Shiny and Bonuses
When does it start? The Spotlight Hour starts as always at 6:00 PM. After an hour, at 7:00 PM, it will be over again and the event spawns from the “New Year’s Event” will reappear.
What bonuses are active? During the event, you will encounter Formeo almost everywhere in the wild. If you want, you can activate incense to attract even more Pokémon of this kind.
Furthermore, you will receive double experience points for catching Pokémon.

Can you catch Shiny Formeo? Yes, the shiny form of Formeo has been active in Pokémon GO for a long time and can be caught by you. You also have the chance to get it during today’s event. However, keep in mind that the shiny chances are not increased during Spotlight Hours.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? Unfortunately, Formeo is not a good attacker at all. It should not be used in PvE during raids or in PvP against other players.
Maybe the experience points bonus is worthwhile for some of you to help with leveling up. However, you won’t have a chance of getting strong attackers during today’s Spotlight Hour.
