A Spotlight Hour is coming in Pokémon GO again. This time featuring Roggenrola and an XP bonus.
What is a Spotlight Hour? A Spotlight Hour is a small 60-minute event that takes place every Tuesday. During this time, there is at least one Pokémon that is in the spotlight, appearing in very high numbers throughout the event. A bonus is also part of the event.
The Spotlight Hour on July 29, 2025 features Roggenrola. The Rock-type Pokémon from Generation 5 can evolve into Boldore and then into Gigalith.
Spotlight Hour on July 29, 2025 – Start and Bonuses
When does the Spotlight Hour start? As always, the Spotlight Hour starts at 6:00 PM and lasts for one hour, until 7:00 PM.
What bonus is active? If you evolve Pokémon during the event, you will receive double the amount of experience points for each individual evolution. It doesn’t matter which Pokémon you evolve. The bonus applies to every Pokémon.
If you use Lucky Eggs, you can further increase the bonus and thus get four times the amount of experience points for each evolution.
Can you catch Shiny Roggenrola? Yes, if you are lucky, you can also obtain the shiny variant of Roggenrola. However, the chance is not increased during the event.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it? With Gigalith, the final evolution of Roggenrola, you will have one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO of the Rock type. If you still have gaps in your team, you can use the event to farm the corresponding Roggenrola specimens and candies.
In the Battle League, however, you should avoid Roggenrola and its evolutions. Neither in the Great League, nor in the Ultra League, or Master League can these Pokémon score points.
If you are actively gathering experience points and have some Pokémon that you wanted to evolve anyway, you can use the event to gain a few extra experience points.
