As usual, this week in Pokémon GO, the Spotlight Hour awaits you. In addition to a special Pikachu, there is also a strong Stardust bonus.
What is the Spotlight Hour? The Spotlight Hour is a short event that takes place every week on Tuesday in Pokémon GO. It lasts 60 minutes and brings you at least one Pokémon that is featured in the event and appears in large numbers. The event is accompanied by a bonus.
The next Spotlight Hour brings you Pikachu, the beloved Electric-type Pokémon from Generation 1. It comes in a costumed version and wears a striped party hat, fitting for the birthday event in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight Hour on July 1 – Start and Bonuses
When does the Spotlight Hour start? The Spotlight Hour starts as always on Tuesday at 6:00 PM. The event is active for 60 minutes and thus ends at 7:00 PM again.
What bonus is active? If you catch Pokémon during the event, you will receive double Stardust for each individual catch. It doesn’t matter which Pokémon you catch, as the bonus applies not only to Pikachu.
Can you catch the Pikachu as Shiny? Yes, if you are lucky, you can also get the costumed Pikachu as Shiny. However, the chance of a Shiny version is not increased.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it? If you plan to use Pikachu and its evolution, Raichu, as attackers, you should rethink this plan. Both Pokémon are not particularly strong and are not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
In the battle leagues, it looks similar. You shouldn’t rely on Electric-type Pokémon in the Great, Ultra, or Master League either.
If you haven’t yet added the costumed Pikachu to your collection, you can use the event for that. You can also take advantage of the Stardust bonus to improve your stock of this important resource. If you use Star Pieces, you will even receive 300 Stardust per Pikachu.
