The first quick players have completed all new special research and can catch Celebi. The new quests in Pokémon GO are now set.
About a week ago, Niantic released the new special research worldwide, allowing players to unlock the mythical Pokémon Celebi. The quests are divided into eight chapters. Because players used tricks, they were able to catch Celebi already.

Days of research: It took several days for all the new quests of the special research with Celebi to be revealed. After the quests with Mew, trainers can now catch the second mythical Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Now all quests for “A Leap in Time” are set. All special research with Celebi in Pokémon GO
If you have completed the tasks, you will have an encounter with Celebi. Some players have already achieved this encounter. Reddit user UrinaDeOstra shows his encounter with Celebi in the following screenshot:
Same mechanics as Mew: Before the Celebi quests were implemented in the game, trainers could already catch another mythical Pokémon – Mew. The encounter with Celebi works in the same way according to initial reports. The AR mode is set as standard. Celebi breaks out after a shake and can then be caught.
Tricks used: It should actually not be possible to catch Celebi already. Among the quests are tasks such as “Catch a Pokémon for 3 consecutive days”; later, it also requires one to turn PokéStops continuously for a week. That would be at least nine days.
Players who have already caught Celebi through the new special quests apparently changed the time zones on their smartphones. This could shorten tasks that are tied to several days. We advise against exploiting such mechanics.
Celebi was initially only available to participants of the GO Fest 2018 and is now active for all trainers in Pokémon GO as special research, once they have completed at least step 3 of the Mew research.
