There will soon be Safari events in Pokémon GO, where you can find regional Pokémon in Germany. At the events, you can expect additional extras such as special raids that make visiting Safari zones worthwhile.

Soon, such a Safari will take place in the west of Germany, in Oberhausen. Last week, we asked you how far you would travel for such an event, and we now have the results of this survey.
Travel Fun – More than a third for 100KM+
The announcement of Safari Zones in Europe received both positive and negative feedback from our readers on Mein-MMO.de and our Pokémon GO Facebook group and Facebook page. Some trainers positively noted that the zones are available in Europe and that there is also a chance for trainers in Germany to catch the rare regional Pokémon. Trainers in the western part of Germany liked that they don’t have to travel too far to the Safari Zone in Oberhausen, which is near Duisburg.
But here we also come to the negative feedback: The long travel time for trainers who live far from Safari Zones. Some travel abroad for that, as for many players the Safari Zone in the Czech Republic is easier and faster to reach than Oberhausen.
Additionally, some trainers are not willing to undertake such a long journey just for Pokémon GO. They feel unfairly treated and wish for sponsored PokéStops in their area.
That’s why we started a survey on Friday and asked you how far you would travel for Pokémon GO. Here are the results from over 800 voting readers:
- 22% would travel up to 10 kilometers
- 18% voted for up to 20 kilometers
- 23% said they would travel up to 50 kilometers
- 37% would travel 100 kilometers or more for Pokémon GO
Many of you are thus willing to cover a long distance to pursue your Pokémon GO passion. When the events lure with such cool rewards, it’s understandable. By the way, participation in the Safari events is free – but you must register
