In September, there will be a research day featuring a plant and poison Pokémon from the first generation in Pokémon GO. We will show you what bonuses to expect and all other event details.
What kind of event is this? In recent years, Pokémon GO has repeatedly hosted research days. A selected Pokémon is in focus, which you encounter through field research tasks that you receive during the event.
The next research day is happening this month with the Pokémon Myrapla. See all the information here at a glance.

When is the event active? On Sunday, September 17th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Pokémon of the day: Myrapla. By spinning photo discs, you will receive research tasks that reward you with encounters of Myrapla upon completion. With some luck, it could even be shiny.

- The chances of shiny Myrapla are increased
- If you encounter Myrapla in the wild, they can carry a sun stone

Pokémon in the wild: Apart from Myrapla, you will encounter other Pokémon in the wild during the event. These are:
- Paras*
- Bluzuk*

- Knilz*
- Roselia*
- Tuska*

- and Frubberl
Pokémon that we have marked with a star (*) can be encountered in their shiny variant. Please note that only the shiny chances of Myrapla have been increased.
Why exactly Myrapla? The reactions to the event announcement from the community raised questions about why this Pokémon was chosen. On the official Pokémon website, a larger event was introduced that revolves around this Pokémon. A dedicated series has been released on PokémonTV and the official YT channel (via YouTube.com)
Additionally, there is a new trading card for this Pokémon. And on Twitch, there was a marathon featuring the best appearances of Myrapla. Everywhere, the attacker is celebrated. Whether a larger innovation is on the horizon or if the team simply randomly chose this Pokémon is still unclear.
