Can region-specific Pokémon hatch from all eggs in Pokémon GO? John Hanke explains how the system works.
Among the various Pokémon that can be caught in Pokémon GO, there are some only available in certain regions. For instance, Tauros is only found in North America, while Mr. Mime can be found here in Europe. Until now, some trainers assumed that Pokémon not available in Europe could be obtained as rewards from eggs. John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, has now addressed this assumption via Twitter.
Can you get Tauros from an egg in Germany?
Some trainers believe that it is possible to obtain Pokémon that are typically only available in other regions from Pokémon eggs. These include Tauros, Farfetch’d, Mr. Mime, and Kangaskhan. Although these Pokémon are listed as rewards for 5-kilometer eggs, they are only available in specific regions. This aligns with John Hanke’s statement on Twitter, suggesting that it is not possible for a Tauros to hatch from an egg found here in Germany.
When asked if region-specific Pokémon can be obtained from eggs outside their specific region, he replied: Eggs can only be found in their natural habitat.
