Trainers are currently reporting a bizarre bug in Pokémon GO that can cause legendary monsters to elude you. However, a solution to the problem seems to be known.
There are various ways to obtain monsters in Pokémon GO. Some of the strongest can be encountered regularly in raids, where you can challenge, defeat, and, ideally, catch them.
However, there seems to be a bug in Pokémon GO when catching the monster after a raid, causing you to receive the wrong monster. But this, according to trainers in the community, seems to be quite easily avoidable.
Fighting Dialga, Receiving Wyrdeer
What is the problem? As reported by a trainer on Reddit, he used a remote raid to fight a Dialga. However, after the successful battle against the monster, the expected Dialga did not appear on the catching screen, but rather a Wyrdeer.
Since he organized the raid via Reddit, he subsequently asked the other raid participants if they too received a Wyrdeer instead of Dialga. They were also able to confirm that the error had occurred for them.
In another post on Reddit, another trainer reports exactly this issue.
How does the problem occur? In both posts, it is reported that the respective raids started very late. One raid seems to have had a remaining time of about 2 minutes, while the other had only 40 seconds left.
It can thus be assumed that the problem occurs when you start the battle just before the end of a raid and the monster disappears from the raid while you are still fighting.
How can I avoid the problem? If you want to avoid the error and receive the Pokémon you defeated after a raid, there seems to be a simple solution. Ensure that you have enough time before the raid ends when starting the raid.
Keep in mind that you can spend up to 120 seconds in the raid lobby if not all trainers press the ready button. Additionally, you need to account for the time needed for the battle itself. Planning a certain buffer in case the fight takes longer or if some seconds are lost due to communication with the servers would also be beneficial.
For example, if you want to complete a 5-star raid, you should plan for at least 7 minutes (120 seconds lobby plus 300 seconds battle) along with an appropriate buffer. If the timer is already lower, it would be advisable to refrain from the raid at that moment to avoid the error.
When will the problem be fixed? Currently, there is no exact information from Niantic about when the bug will be fixed.
