In just a few days, you will be able to wear the “Pokémon GO” gadget on your wrists.
With the “Pokémon GO Plus” band, one can catch Pokémon at the push of a button and collect items from PokéStops without having to operate the smartphone. Trainers had to wait a long time for this gadget, as the original release was delayed. Now there are only a few days left until the band can be purchased. But is the hype still sufficient?
Pokémon GO Plus available in September
In an update on the “Pokémon GO” website, Niantic announced that the “Pokémon GO Plus” gadget will be available starting September 16. The gadget can, for example, be worn as a band and connects via Bluetooth Smart technology to your smartphone. The Bluetooth Smart technology is also used by fitness and health apps and requires less power than a “normal” Bluetooth connection. This means that you still need to carry your smartphone with you when using the gadget.
The advantage of this gadget is that you can collect rewards from PokéStops without having your smartphone in hand. When passing a PokéStop, the device will notify you with a vibration and light. You can then simply collect the items with a push of a button. If you find a wild Pokémon, the gadget behaves the same way. With light and vibration, you will be alerted and can catch the Pokémon by pressing the button.
According to the latest information, the device is currently only compatible with iOS, with an Android version still in development.
In the comments on Facebook, it is often mentioned that players “would have used GO-Plus immediately 2 months ago, but now have lost interest”. It costs €39.99 on the official website and is compatible with iPhone models 5/5c/5s/SE/6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus. Additionally, iOS 8-9 must be installed on the device.
Will you use Pokémon GO Plus?
