The Pokémon GO Plus is a wearable gadget for trainers who want to catch Pokémon on the go without taking out their phone.
If you play Pokémon GO regularly and “without help”, you only use your phone and an internet connection (along with a power bank depending on duration). If you want to take your trainer adventures to the next level without constantly looking at your smartphone, you can use a gadget to assist you. The official version is called Pokémon GO Plus and is now discounted on Amazon.
Pokémon GO Plus – What is it actually?
The GO Plus is a teardrop-shaped gadget measuring 46 mm tall and 33 mm wide, making it relatively small. You can wear it as a wristband (the appropriate wristband is included) or as a pin on your clothing. If you connect the GO Plus to your Android device or iPhone, you can play Pokémon GO without having to look at your phone. It connects via Bluetooth to your phone and alerts you to in-game events (wild Pokémon, stops) through light and vibration.
- If you are near a PokéStop, the device will blink and vibrate. Then you press the button and collect the items from the stop, which will end up in your inventory. If you are out of range, the button lights up red.
- If a wild Pokémon is nearby, the GO Plus will notify you. A yellow light means you haven’t caught that wild Pokémon before. A green light means you’ve already caught one of those monsters. Press the button to throw a Poké Ball and attempt to catch it. The device will then show you in different colors whether the catch was successful.
- Since the GO Plus is connected to your phone via Bluetooth, you no longer need to take it out to catch monsters or loot stops. Now that temperatures are rising again and you are outside more often, you can easily hatch eggs or collect Pokémon.
- Currently, there are occasional connection drops between the device and smartphone. Niantic is addressing potential issues with regular updates.

When the GO Plus was released, it cost around 45€ and was quickly sold out. After that, it was only available through third-party sellers for a while. Now you can get the gadget cheaper on Amazon. It now costs about a third less than the original price, at 29.99€. Prime customers also receive a €1 voucher for movies or series.
