With this trick, you have 4 instead of 3 starter Pokémon to choose from in Pokémon GO! We explain how to get Pikachu.
When you start your big adventure in the new Pokémon GO, Professor Willow will lead you to the map after character creation, where you are supposed to catch your starter Pokémon. Here, you actually only have the choice between Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle – However, if you trick the game a little, an additional Pokémon will be added to this selection, making your adventure feel even more like Ash’s journey.
Patience pays off in Pokémon GO as well
After you find Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle on the map, you would normally start the “battle” by clicking on one of the 3 Pokémon. However, if you walk away and do not click on a Pokémon, the trio disappears and reappears shortly afterwards. If you manage to ignore the trio a total of 4 times, they will return with another small Pokémon from the first generation.
Once Pikachu appears on the screen, you can start the battle as usual and tap it. This process can take some time until Pikachu actually appears – The team at Polygon took a total of 40 minutes to expand the selection of starter Pokémon with the little yellow Electric friend. It’s definitely worth the effort to recreate Ash Ketchum’s adventures from Pallet Town almost authentically, isn’t it?
Trading Pokémon with friends will be possible in the future!
Or do you want to start your adventure with one of the “normal” 3 starter Pokémon like in Pokémon Red or Blue?
When we can start Pokémon GO in Germany is still uncertain. The launch has recently been postponed by the developer Niantic. Impatient Pokémon trainers among you can already play Pokémon GO with an APK trick – at least if the servers are stable.
