What is a research day? These events occur sporadically in Pokémon GO. Here, you must collect field research from PokéStops to get certain event monsters. Some of them will have an increased shiny chance.
When is the research day? The next research day will take place on September 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
What are the event Pokémon? The two main Pokémon of the event are Kommandutan and Quartermak. Quartermak will even appear for the first time ever as a shiny – and with an increased chance of encountering the shiny Pokémon. The increased shiny chance also applies to Kommandutan.

How do I get the Shinies? Kommandutan and Quartermak will be in the event field researches that you get when you spin PokéStops. So plan for longer walks to pass as many stops as possible and increase your chances of getting the shiny.
Once you have completed the researches, you will encounter one of the two Pokémon, whose shiny variants will be significantly easier to find during this event than usual.
Are Kommandutan and Quartermak worth it? Definitely for shiny collectors. As fighters, not so much: In raids, both are negligible attackers, as there are significantly better options among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
In PvP, Kommandutan has the best chance to find a place in the Ultra League. Quartermak, on the other hand, generally falls short here.
So: Especially if you want to expand your shiny collection, this day is worth it.

However, it is only valid during the event period.
