In Pokémon GO you can currently earn Stardust with the right quests. But it is worth saving them.
This is what’s happening in Pokémon GO: In Pokémon GO, the Valentine’s Day event has started. This brings some interesting features, such as:
- The Heart-cut form of Coiffwaff
- The research “Lovely Wishes” with three paths
- A global challenge with gifts
Moreover, new raid bosses, changed spawns, and fresh field researches are coming into the game. And in those, there are currently 3 Pokémon that give you extra Stardust. You can take advantage of that.
3 Quest Pokémon bring extra Stardust – But you can get even more
These are the 3 quests: In the Pokémon GO subreddit, user “Pendergilr4” (via reddit) points out that currently, the following quest monsters can be obtained during the event:
- Wadribie is found in the quest “Open 5 Gifts”. It brings 750 Stardust per catch.
- Bubungus is also found in the quest “Open 5 Gifts”. It brings 500 Stardust per catch.
- Ohrdoch is found in the quest: “Spin 10 PokéStops or gyms”. Ohrdoch gives 2,100 Stardust per catch.
Warning: Behind the quest with the 10 PokéStops and gyms, there may also be Chaneira or Mamolida hiding, so Ohrdoch is only a chance of 1/3. Bubungus and Wadribie are, meanwhile, the only options from their quest.
Here’s how to get a lot of Stardust: Once you have completed the quest, do not catch the Pokémon from the reward encounter. Instead, flee from the catch screen without catching the monster.
This way, you save the encounter for later. You can save up to 100 encounters from field research (via Twitter) and claim them at a later time.
Now it is worth waiting with the Stardust Pokémon until the next Stardust bonus. However, that occurs already on Tuesday, February 14 at 6:00 PM during the spotlight hour with Fleknoil.
There, you will get double the amount of Stardust. If you also activate a Star Piece during that time, you will get even more Stardust for each catch. Now it really makes sense to catch the saved encounters.

- Now collect the 3 researches as often as possible – At stops and gyms
- Complete them to receive the encounter
- Flee from the encounter and save it
- Wait until February 14 for the spotlight hour
- Utilize the double dust bonus
- Use a Star Piece item if necessary
