The release of the 5th generation in Pokémon GO is getting closer and Niantic is teasing some Pokémon daily. They recently showcased Makabaja, which is a little surprise.
These are the teasers: In the past days, Niantic revealed the silhouettes of the starter Pokémon from the Unova region on Twitter. However, many trainers were already aware that these Pokémon would arrive with the release of the generation, as they had been shown previously in a short video.
But now the developers presented a completely unexpected Pokémon that they hadn’t shown anywhere before: Makabaja.
Makabaja in Pokémon GO – What can it do?
This is what Niantic revealed: In line with the silhouette, they told the story surrounding Makabaja. It wears a mask with the face it had as a human.
Will Makabaja be available at release? While this is not confirmed, one can assume so. Otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense for Niantic to showcase this Pokémon now.
Why is Makabaja surprising: This Pokémon would fit ideally into a Halloween event, as it is a Ghost type. Niantic has frequently released Ghost Pokémon for Halloween in the past. Last time it was the Ghosts from the 4th generation.
However, it now seems that Makabaja will come in the first wave. Many trainers find this surprising.
How strong is Makabaja? Makabaja itself is not meta-relevant. However, it has the evolution Echnatoll, which is among the weirdest Pokémon of the 5th generation. Echnatoll reaches 2273 CP and has a strong defense value of 237. This could make it interesting in PvP, but it is likely to play no role in raids.
When does the 5th generation come? The first wave of the Unova region will be coming to the game this coming Monday, September 16th. It is part of the Ultra Bonus.
