A new Pokémon GO event starts on November 20, bringing great rewards if you catch enough monsters!
We have been waiting a long time for this news from Niantic. Last week they promised us a cool announcement for Thanksgiving in Pokémon GO: We can finally present it to you now. With a global catch challenge, we can earn many strong bonuses together. If we put in the effort and catch a lot of monsters, rare Pokémon will come to Europe!
Pokémon GO Travel Event – Start and End
In a new blog post, Niantic reveals that the team has something very special planned for trainers. Together we should achieve various goals and thereby unlock rewards such as double experience points, double stardust, and rare monsters.
The event is part of Pokémon GO Travel and starts already on Monday, November 20 on the evening of November 19. The event will end on November 26 with a special celebration at the Safari Event in Tottori, Japan. There are only a few days left for the competition!
As a major goal, trainers worldwide should catch a total of three billion Pokémon. This will be tiered into bronze, silver, and gold categories.
- Bronze is reached at 500 million caught Pokémon.
- As a reward, there are double experience points, incense with six hours duration, and more Pokémon spawns around the world.
- Silver is available at 1.5 billion caught Pokémon.
- As a reward, there are double experience points, incense with six hours duration, even more Pokémon spawns around the world and double stardust.
- Gold is reached at 3 billion caught Pokémon.
- As a reward, there are double experience points, incense with six hours duration, double stardust, and Porenta will be catchable worldwide for 48 hours. In East Asia, Kangama will be available for 48 hours then. Porenta is already available there.

It is still unclear whether rewards will be unlocked immediately upon reaching the bronze, silver, or gold category, or only after the catch competition ends. We will inform you as soon as we have reliable information.
Update 21:40: The global catch challenge is now already active. According to the Pokémon GO team, rewards will be distributed shortly after achieving a goal (bronze, silver, or gold).
