A new mega evolution has been announced for Pokémon GO. And it will be substantial – but only if you hurry.
Many trainers in Pokémon GO are on the hunt for ever stronger Pokémon to dominate raids, Dynamax battles, and battle leagues. For trainers who are often in raids, the mega evolutions are a must. They are among the strongest creatures in the game.
These trainers can look forward to a new event: the Raid Day on Saturday, October 4, 2025. It will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. And it will bring a new mega evolution that is remarkable.
A really strong attacker
What kind of Pokémon is this? During the Raid Day, Mega Metagross will celebrate its debut in Pokémon GO. While Metagross is currently available in its regular, Shadow, and Dynamax forms, the Mega form will now also make its way into the game.
The regular variant of Metagross is already a good attacker. The mega evolution will therefore also be one of the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO.
What is Mega Metagross suitable for? Metagross, like its mega evolution, has the types Psychic and Steel. In both types, the creature can be used as a strong attacker. Especially as a Steel attacker, there are hardly any other creatures stronger than Metagross.
Mega Metagross can also be used as both a Steel and a Psychic attacker. Since mega evolutions are even stronger than the regular version, Mega Metagross is likely to rank even higher among the Psychic attackers. As a Steel attacker, it could even become the strongest attacker of this type.
What other content is there in the event? If you catch a Metagross after a successful mega raid during the event, it will know the exclusive Fast Move Dark Claw. This move is of the Ghost type.
Additionally, there will be the typical bonuses at the event that you also know from other Raid Days. There will be an increased remote raid limit as well as free raid passes that you can obtain by spinning gym disks. Moreover, the chance to obtain a shiny Metagross through a raid is increased.
For $4.99 (approximately 5 €), you can also purchase an event ticket. This will give you additional raid passes from gyms, an increased chance for XL candies, 5,000 additional experience points, and double the amount of stardust in raids.
