The new eye-catcher in the mobile gaming world is the Magikarp hat in Pokémon GO. Are you already wearing this eye-catching accessory?
In the coming days, the developers of Pokémon GO will entice you with a special event in the augmented reality world. During the Water Festival, you have an increased chance of encountering Water-type Pokémon like Squirtle, Magikarp, or Croconaw or their evolutions. In line with this fun event, the developers are offering a Fish Hat for free for your avatar.
Magikarp Hat in Pokémon GO
The fashionable Magikarp hat is unlocked for every Trainer and can be donned in the game with just a few clicks. The Magikarp hat doesn’t provide any noticeable advantage, even though many Trainers hope that the accessory increases the chance of finding a shiny Pokémon. However, this is still just a superstition that hasn’t been confirmed.
The Shinies have been seen in the game for a few days and so far only in the form of Magikarp and Gyarados.
To put the Magikarp hat on your avatar, follow these steps:
- Start Pokémon GO and click on your Trainer icon in the lower left corner
- Now click on the menu button in the lower right corner
- There, select the third option “Customize”
- A summary of possible categories such as hats, glasses, tops, and so on will appear
- Select “Hats”
- In the selection bar, you will find the Magikarp hat
- Select the Fish Hat and click on save
- Then the hat should be saved, and you can leave the avatar customization via the X symbols.
- On the map and next to your buddy Pokémon, your Trainer will now appear with the fun Magikarp hat.
In the game, this hat can cause confusion. On Reddit, Trainers are reporting that they clicked on the hat because they thought it was a wild Magikarp. So be sure to look closely if you think a wild Magikarp has spawned right next to you and is behaving suspiciously quietly.
