In Pokémon GO the short “Light Festival” event starts in October. It runs for four days and brings the new Pokémon Bubungus and its evolution Lamellux into the game. There will also be some monsters glowing at night. You can find the details about the event here.
What kind of event is this? The Light Festival focuses on glowing and radiant Pokémon. The event was announced early, but the details were missing until now.

Light Festival 2022 in October – Start, End, Shinies, and Bonuses
When does it start? The event begins on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10:00 local time. It will be active until Monday, October 17, 2022, at 20:00 local time.
New Pokémon: For the first time, you can obtain Bubungus and Lamellux during the event. Both celebrate their release in the game. If you have collected 50 candies for Bubungus, you can evolve it into Lamellux.
The bonuses of the event: During the Light Festival, you will have four bonuses active:
- Increased chances for Shiny Lampi
- Double XP for catching Pokémon
- Double candies for catching Pokémon
- Smoke activated during the event lasts for 2 hours
Furthermore, Niantic states, “Our research has also shown that some wild Pokémon will glow at night during this event – don’t miss this spectacle!”
Wild spawns: The following Pokémon are more frequently encountered in the wild during the Light Festival:
- Pikachu*
- Vulpix*
- Magnetilo*
- Lampi*
- Lichtel
- Leufeo*
- Eguana
- Dedenne
- Bubungus
- With luck, you can encounter Galar-Ponita* and Togedemaru
Smoke boost: The following Pokémon are more frequently attracted by smoke during the Light Festival:
- Alola-Kleinstein*
- Elezeba*
- Flampion*
- Lichtel
- Dedenne
- Bubungus
- With luck, you can encounter Galar-Ponita* and Galar-Flampion*
Raids: During the Light Festival, you will encounter the following opponents in the raids:

Research: In line with the event, you can expect a limited-time research task. This time it revolves around catching Pokémon. As a reward, you will receive the glowing pose for your avatar among other items.
For completing field research, you will be rewarded with Pokémon encounters. The Pokémon Galar-Ponita*, Elektek*, Magmar*, Lampi*, Elezeba*, Dedenne, and Bubungus are in the selection.
