Shiny variants of the legendary Pokémon will be downloaded with the latest Pokémon GO update. Surprising news for Pokémon trainers!
Trainers in Pokémon GO are preparing for the first legendary Pokémon that might be released in a few hours. To do this, players around the world need to collaborate, catch many Pokémon, and complete a task. Subsequently, the first legendary monsters will be activated in the game.
As a special feature, you can expect shiny variants of the legendary birds. This is at least indicated by a secret download in the latest update.
Shiny Lugia, -Zapdos, -Articuno, and -Moltres
As reported by PokémonGOHub, the latest Pokémon GO update “0.69.0” performs special downloads in the background. Five new icons are being downloaded:
- Normal and Shiny Lugia
- Shiny Articuno
- Shiny Zapdos
- Shiny Moltres
The only other shiny icon being downloaded from Pokémon GO is that of Shiny Magikarp. Due to these downloads, it is assumed that the legendary Pokémon can also be caught as shiny variants.
Furthermore, it is assumed that the mentioned Kanto birds and Lugia are the first legendary Pokémon that you can catch in Pokémon GO. Here are what the downloaded icons look like:
Keep in mind that you cannot yet see these icons in the game itself. They are currently only present in encrypted form in the data of Pokémon GO. In the following image, you can see the difference between the normal and shiny variant of the legendary Pokémon.
How do you catch the legendary Pokémon?
Today marks the start of the Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago, presenting tasks for trainers on-site and around the world. If you manage to catch enough Pokémon, the first legendary Pokémon will be available to find in Chicago. If the trainers there succeed in defeating this Pokémon, these special monsters will subsequently appear all over the world.
